Coke Zero and Diet Coke

Diet Coke
Diet Coke is a sugar-free soft drink produced and distributed by The Coca-Cola Company. It is the first new brand since 1886 to use the Coca-Cola trademark. The product quickly overtook the company's existing diet cola. Diet Coke is now being sold all over the world however there has been a few problems. The most commonly distributed version of Diet Coke relies on aspartame, which has been suggested to pose health concerns. Aspartame is one of the most intensively scrutinized food additives. Research published in 2007 for the British government's Food Standards Agency suggests that sodium benzoate is linked to hyperactive behavior and decreased intelligence in children. In January 2008 sodium benzoate was removed from production lines for Diet Coke sold in the UK, however it remains in other Coke products and other production locations.

Coke Zero
Coca-Cola Zero, or Coke Zero, is a product of The Coca-Cola Company. It is a low-calorie variation of Coca-Cola specifically marketed to men, who were shown to associate diet drinks with women. It is marketed as having a taste that is indistinguishable from standard Coca-Cola, as opposed to Diet Coke which has a different flavor profile. Coke Zero was Coca-Cola's largest product launch in 22 years. It is primarily marketed towards young adult males and has been nicknamed "Bloke Coke" in the UK. In the U.S, advertising has been tailored to its targeted market by describing the drink as "calorie-free" rather than "diet", since young adult males are said to associate diet drinks with women.

Batman Begins (2005) - Codes and Conventions

Batman Begins

In Batman Begins it easily shows that the film is part of the superhero genre because of the codes and conventions that can be found within the film. One of these codes and conventions that can be found in the film is the backstory of the Bruce Wayne, the backstory was how Bruce's parents were shot and killed in his arms, and also how he has his fear of bats. It also tells the audience why Bruce becomes batman which is to get revenge for the death of his parents and to stop crime in Gotham.Another feature that is common in the superhero genre is the different array of character types some of which are the Hero, Batman and the Helper Alfred, Princess Rachel, Villain Scarecrow. These character types are found in many superhero movies to clearly point out to the audience that this is a superhero movie.

Spiderman (2002) - codes and conventions

Spiderman

Spiderman has many different types of genre conventions that relate to the superhero genre, and show the  audience what type of genre it is. The film has over the top, bright costumes. Spiderman wears a tight, red and blue tight suit with a logo of a spider on the front, while the Green Goblin wears a bright green set of armor with a green goblin helmet, with yellow eyes, and an open mouth. The costume of the characters is an important part of the superhero genre as it shows what the character represents, but also hides the characters actual identity. with these costumes. It is also easier to identify who is the hero and who is the villain, Spiderman is in a bright blue and red costume, while the Green Goblin wears a green military armor and looks dangerous.

Another convention it uses is secret identities. Peter Parker keeps his identity a secret, for fear of someone close to him getting hurt. The Green Goblin, who is Norman Osbourne, picks up on a clue and realizes that Peter Parker is Spiderman, he attacks and terrorizes his aunt, which affects Peter and makes him realize that being a superhero could cause damage to people close to him.
Also included in Spiderman is the convention of super powers. Peter Parker is bitten on a science filed trip by a radioactive, genetically-modified super spider, which alters Peter's DNA to make him be able to have super strength, be able to climb up walls, and be able to fire webs out of his wrists. Norman Osbourne uses a special performance enhancing chemical gas which gives him super strength, but he goes a bit crazy.
All of the genre conventions, aswell as others which are in the film, clearly fit into the Superhero genre, and give the audience a clear idea of what genre the film is that they are about to watch.

Marvel and DC comics

Marvel

Marvel Comics is an American comic book line and also now as well make movies. Marvel’s best-known characters in comics include the Fantastic Four, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Daredevil, Thor, Captain America, and X-Men. Most of Marvel’s fictional characters reside in the Marvel Universe.
Since the 1960s, it has been one of the largest American comics companies, along with DC Comics. Located in New York City, Marvel has been successively headquartered in the McGraw-Hill Building on West 42nd Street.

Marvel Comics was founded by established pulp-magazine publisher Martin Goodman in 1939 when the company was under the name Timely Comics. Its first publication was Marvel Comics #1 in 1939, featuring the second appearance of Carl Burgos’ android superhero, the Human Torch, and the first generally available appearance of Bill Everett’s mutant anti-hero Namor the Sub-Mariner.

The company’s first editor, the writer-artist Joe Simon, teamed with soon-to-be industry legend Jack Kirby to create one of the first patriotically themed superheroes, Captain America, in Captain America Comics #1. It, too, proved a major sales hit.
While no other Timely character would be as successful as these “big three”, some notable heroes,  many continuing to appear in modern-day, appearances and flashbacks include the Whizzer, Miss America, the Destroyer, the original Vision, and Paul Gustavson’s Angel. Timely also published one of humor cartoonist Basil Wolverton’s best-known features, Powerhouse Pepper.

Dc

DC Comics is known as the king of all comic books. It has been the leader in the industry since its start many years ago. They paved their way with their styles and strategies and many other comics book industries in America followed them such as their rival Marvel Comics. The history of DC Comics has gone on to be a huge part of American culture.
DC Comics were able to survive and continue to thrive even when there were times when they had gone through declining periods when comics books were losing interest. However, today they proved to be one of the most successful stories in the comic book industry and are a subsidiary of the Warner Brothers Entertainment and are also part of Time Warner too.
The DC Comics made a name for themselves in 1939 as they were then founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson. During that time its company was known as National Allied Publications. The initials for the DC Comic books were from taken from the Detective Comic series.
With that series came the rise of Batman. There was another line of comic books, known as Action Comics, which featured a new super hero named Superman. Over the years these two super heroes became quite popular and to this day they are still two of the most popular characters to ever appear in comic books and went on to spark the way for many other super heroes.

During 1965 the industry introduced a new super hero by the name of Flash. This character was created many years before but was brought back and updated to be placed in more popular times. This time more emotional and personal compelling stories were used along with some better storyboards and artwork which helped to liven up the character. The company did the same with all the other characters too, which included batman and superman. Then shortly afterwards the Justice League society and the Justice League of America was created. There have been 115 DC superheroes and 29 films based on DC Comics.

Difference

The main difference between DC and marvel comics is that Marvel characters are likely to come from relatively ordinary backgrounds than DC characters. Also DC is more fantasy based that Marvel as places such as Gotham are not real whereas in Marvel's comics lots of things are based in New York. Another difference is that Marvel on average makes more money for films than DC. Marvel has made a lot more in the box office than DC. Lastly Marvel comics have more mainstream superheroes who have been given their own film, however DC often depend on Superman and Batman.

Star Wars Diegetic & Non-Diegetic sounds

Diegetic: This is Sound what you can see and where it is coming from. The source of the sound is within a frame e.g. a radio, or explosion.

Non-Diegetic: This is Sound which you can not see where is coming from, it could be music or a narrator which has been edited in after.

Non-Diegetic

In this scene it uses non-Diegetic sound. This part is effective to the audience as it shows the character is alone because of the the high pitched music, this gives tension and we get this feeling that everywhere is quite, dull and there is no one around. Also Because of this effect the audience begins to wonder who is that character, and what is the character doing?

In this scene our attention is drawn to the increase in narration of the character on screen and increase of music as well, this has a tense impact on the audience and causes us to feel more excited. It makes his voice stand out and shows that he is evil.

In this scene it uses Non-Diegetic sound . Here the music  builds up and gets louder .This creates tension as action is being taken place and makes the audience want to watch more. It also makes it exciting to see what is happening and makes you want to watch the film.

Diegetic sounds

This scene uses Diegetic sound. The sound of spaceships shooting and exploding, you can easily see were the sound is coming from. This effects the audience by making us excited and also tense. Exciting because it is a spaceship battle in the air and would be very intense. Also this does use non diegetic sound because of the very heroic music in the background.

Here, the director has used diegetic sound. the main sound we can here is the lightsaber being hit against each other that implies that it is a dangerous scene. The audience would want to watch more because we don't know what happens next as the trailer cuts the scene midway through he lifts the lightsaber into the air. The sound of the lightsaber gets louder and more climatic throughout the scene and gives of a very intense feel.

Diegetic sound in this scene is the sound of bullets from all different directions being shot. This is Diegetic sound because the bullet sounds are coming from the many different spaceships. This creates tension for the audience because they don't no which side is going to win. Also the audience could be feeling excited to see what happens next as a lot of different actions are being taken place. This also makes the audience want to watch more to see what side wins.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World Trailer

Mise en Scene

In this scene one of Ramona's evil ex's comes through the roof. We can tell this character is quite strange and weird from when he comes through the roof. His hair and make up are not something an normal person would wear every day. Also his make up by his eyes make him look a bit evil and his clothes are very old. As well as, his hair covering half his face makes I'm look mysterious.

This scene is set in Scott's apartment, the clothes in the middle of the floor show that he is a lazy character. All of the video games and DVD's in the  corner imply that Scott hasn't got an fun social life. He is sat right behind the door, desperate for his parcel to get delivered by Ramona. Most of the room and clothes are mostly dull and not bright.

In this scene Scott has been trying to find a girl in a party and his facial expressions show that he has finally found her because he looks at the girl for a couple of seconds in shock, which could also say that he loves her. However the Ramona doesn't seem to know who Scott is yet and her facial expressions don't change and show she is not bothered about Scott.

The Martian Trailer - Screenshot Analyisis

This is a extreme long shot that is showing the planet. The effect of this is to show how big the planet mars is and where the scene is going to be set.

This is a long shot that is getting closer to the ship in the distance. Its is getting closer to where the scene is going to happen and showing more detail of the surroundings. Also this could be an  extreme long shot as well.

This is an extreme close up to show the character facial expressions. The effect of this that its trying to show that the astronaut is in shock and  waking up. So it only shows his face and no background so viewer can easily see.

This is a mid shot, only showing is waist and up, also only a little bit of background. This is showing what the character looks like and what state he is in.

This could also be a long shot because of the camera being able to see the full body. This is showing that the character is doing something and you can see that clearly.

T
This is a two shot because it is showing two characters in on shot. The effect of this is to show the characters are having a conversation
with one an other.
